WORKSHOP
STEEL CABLES FOR ZIP LINES – WIREMAX BY DEACERO
SEPTEMBER 23, 2025
TIME: 6 PM – 9 PM
PRESENTED BY:
ENRIQUE CHAPA
FRANCO HERNÁNDEZ

This 3-hour technical workshop will be delivered by the specialists from WIREMAX by DEACERO: Franco Hernández, Quality and Engineering Manager at the cable manufacturing plant, and Enrique Chapa, Commercial Manager. Both will provide an in-depth look at the technical aspects related to the manufacturing, processes, maintenance, and storage of steel cables used in zip lines.
They will begin with the manufacturing process, materials, and its stages. During the session, the presenters will explain the different cable constructions (swaged, compacted, 6x26, among others), the various finishes (galvanized, coated), and share recommendations for proper handling and maintenance in order to extend the cable’s service life without compromising safety.
In addition, best handling practices will be addressed, including winding techniques, storage, lubrication, corrosion protection, as well as visual inspection procedures and retirement criteria due to wear, wire breaks, crushing, corrosion, indentations, or other critical damages.
The workshop will also cover the standards and technical references used for steel cable manufacturing, providing participants with clear and updated criteria for cable selection and safety management in zip line operations.
Finally, an analysis of the most commonly used steel cables in zip lines will be presented, explaining their advantages and showing examples of adventure parks currently using WIREMAX by DEACERO cables as part of their operating systems.
